Jeff grew up in Dalton, Georgia. Jeff’s parent’s Bill and Jeanne, were fixtures in the Dalton Little Theater, so from an early age Jeff loved the idea of “putting on a show”. Living near Chattanooga, the heart of the 1970’s drive-in circuit, Jeff saw all the independent regional films of the era, and the idea of a small group of people putting their heart and soul onto film totally intrigued him.

He enlisted his brother William in various Super-8 adventures, including the James Bond parody AGENT 005 and the unbearably pretentious teen epic LIFE IS SEMI-PRECIOUS. The spirit of those early film shoots is what Jeff tries to bring to every film he makes now.

Jeff attended the USC School of Cinema as an undergrad, where he was in a class that included such future industry luminaries as Kirk Ellis, Jay Roach, Anthony Lovett, John Cork and Mike Malone. While at USC Jeff co-produced, co-wrote, co-edited and co-directed (with Kevin Meyer) a Civil War epic entitled DIVIDED WE FALL, which won 20 major film festival awards. This film established a pattern with Jeff’s work…the ambitious independent film that grows and grows and overtakes his life.

At USC Jeff also met Darin Scott, a fellow student studying chemical engineering. Through many late-night talks about writing and movies, Jeff convinced Darin the world needed more good producers and fewer chemical engineers. On certain days, Jeff still gets phone calls from Darin cursing him for that.

Jeff teamed up with his brother William and Darin on the feature film FROM A WHISPER TO A SCREAM, starring Vincent Price. That film led to many others for Jeff, including STEPFATHER 2 starring Terry O’Quinn and LEATHERFACE:TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE starring Viggo Mortensen. He has written and directed films for such companies as Miramax, New Line, Paramount and Spelling Entertainment.

Jeff is especially fond of his totally indie work, films on which he had total control and final cut. Those films are FROM A WHISPER TO A SCREAM, EDDIE PRESLEY and STRAIGHT INTO DARKNESS.

On BROKE SKY, Jeff tried to be the kind of producer that he wants to have when he is a director…totally supportive, creative and offering can-do solutions to get the director’s vision onto the screen. Producers such as Daniel Melnick, Jerome Hellman, Lewis Allen and Christine Vachon have inspired him over the years.

Jeff is currently finalizing production plans to shoot his “coming of rage” epic THE INVERTEBRATES, an uncompromising comedy, and is finishing the script UNDER TELEVISION SKIES.
